Reviews are extremely important for all authors, especially those of us who publish independently.

To have a successful book release on platforms like Amazon, it’s crucial to have as many reviews as possible during the first week that the book is published, which is when the book typically has the most visibility on retail sites. Potential readers often look to others’ reviews to see if the book might be their perfect next read, especially in genres where there’s so many titles to choose from.

In order to get those reviews in quick and early right as the book hits digital shelves, I send out Advance Reader Copies (ARCs) to reliable readers who will be able to finish the book before publication and leave a non-spoilery review on Amazon, Goodreads, and other social media platforms or personal blogs. You can talk about what you liked (or didn’t like) about the book without giving away specific plot details or spoiling the ending before others have had a chance to read it. People love to hear whether or not you found the book engaging and fast paced, if you liked the characters, if it lived up to your expectations of the genre, or what fun tropes you enjoyed.

ARCs are completely free as long as you are able to provide a review on Amazon in exchange. Reviewers are expected to finish the book by the given publication deadline and provide their honest reviews within the first days/week of the book’s release. This is absolutely important to take advantage of that release week hype. If for some reason you aren’t able to, that’s completely fine! You can opt out at any time.

ARC reviewers are an integral part of an independent author’s success, so if you’re up for it, please apply when you see an upcoming release listed on this page.
